Why did Japanese kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

During the war, Japan needed a really good way to defend themselves from the enemies. So the government forced smart airplane university students to become `kamikaze pilots` or `Divine wind suicide pilots`. And these kamikaze pilots always wore helmets for their flight. The reason for wearing this helmets were to keep their goggles on in the wind so that they could see their targets properly, to hold their headsets, radios and oxygen masks while they are flying to their destination. They had reason to wear this helmets every time!!
